    MEASURES IN 2008 REDUCTION OF GROUP CONSUMPTION OF SCARCE RESOURCES ENVIRONMENT FRIENDLY CRITERIA FOR PROPERTY MANAGEMENT NEW THIRD PARTY MOTOR LIABILITY POLICY WITH 10 DISCOUNTS FOR HYBRID CARS Milan 23 May 2008 At a meeting today with students from the Postgraduate School Business Society ALTIS of Milan s Catholic University Assicurazioni Generali chief executive officer Giovanni Perissinotto presented the 4th Group Sustainability Report approved by the company Board of Directors The core theme chosen by Generali for 2008 is reduction of direct and indirect environmental impact The Group will be taking action on two fronts on one hand introducing measures to limit consumption of energy and paper and reduce polluting emissions on the other formulating product procurement and investment policies designed to foster an environment friendly culture among suppliers clients and companies that use resources In Generali we are absolutely convinced that business sustainability is essential to lasting economic growth and long term consolidation of our positioning Giovanni Perissinotto said This is particularly true as regards environmental issues the key critical factor in future growth As far as direct impact is concerned the figures in the Sustainability Report for the six countries covered by the analysis show that in 2007 the Group had already achieved an overall 3 5 reduction in electricity consumption compared with 2006 Specifically for management of its real estate assets the Group adopts special environment friendly criteria in renovations and construction of new buildings to achieve energy savings and reduce carbon dioxide emissions In its own buildings the Group will be implementing energy renovation projects based on more efficient clean management of heating and air conditioning systems To reduce indirect impact the Group is developing products and services to encourage environment friendliness among clients in the next few months Generali will be launching a motor policy

    the Vatican Library A new type of insurance solution with special covers to protect assets of outstanding cultural value Trieste 14th April 2008 The Vatican Library Biblioteca Apostolica Vaticana and Assicurazioni Generali have signed a contract providing insurance cover for the art works of the library manuscripts engravings prints books coins and medals during public display for exhibitions and other events organised in Italy and abroad and during moving operations The agreement was signed on Friday 11th April at the Vatican Library in the presence of Cardinal Raffaele Farina the Library Prefect Monsignore Cesare Pasini the Deputy Prefect Ambrogio Maria Piazzoni and Assicurazioni Generali Deputy General Manager Claudio Cominelli head of Italian operations The new policy is the first of its kind based on an approach that moves beyond the usual compensatory mechanism in addition to traditional insurance cover it guarantees global protection through a series of specific loss prevention and disaster recovery solutions Specifically the policy envisages preventive cataloguing of the art works to identify the most substantial and invasive types of deterioration risk In the event of a loss the catalogue will also indicate the restoration centre best qualified to handle the reconstruction Additionally the policy provides travel
